French Program

Our French Program

French is taught by the classroom teacher in the primary grades.  The curriculum used is Images and Visages at these levels.  Grade 5 brings a change in French instruction in that students go to the French room and are take by a French teacher rather than their classroom teacher.  This continues in grades 6 through 8.

Learning a language involves communicating with others.  Students are encouraged to speak in French and daily introductory activities help to promote this.  The curriculum is a continuation of the programs used in earlier grades.  In grades 5 and 6 Visages 2 and 3 are used.  Grades 7 and 8 students use the curriculum On Y Va 1 and On Y Va 2.

Through the use of games, skits and stories we explore the intricacies of the French language together.
