Service Projects

Through service projects, London Christian Elementary School students learn the joy of sharing and the responsibility we all have to help those in need. We try to minister to others in various ways such as singing in nursing homes, collecting food for the homeless, filling Christmas boxes for needy children, and collecting mittens for the those in our own community. We are open to service opportunities which teach our students to serve God with their heart, soul and hands.

Here are a few of the projects we have participated in:

In addition, each year we pick an organization to partner with to raise awareness and support for various needs all around our world. In the past, we worked with Worldwide Christian Schools, supporting a school in the Dominican Republic, raising over $5000!  We also worked with IN Network, raising money for a school library in Ghana. Here at home, we have partnered with local organizations, such as Women's Community House and Men's Mission and Rehabilitation Centre. Through these opportunities, the students and parent community have put their faith into action in amazing ways!

2011-2012

This year, in honour of our school’s 50th anniversary, we have chosen the theme "God is faithful through all generations” from Psalm 100:5. Along with a service project where we work with local groups within our community, children at LCES raise money to support an international cause.

This year, the primary grades will raise money for World Vision to fill a stable with life-changing animals that will help families to a better future. This bountiful gift includes animals such as a cow and goat for nutritional milk and meat; chickens and ducks for eggs; sheep for wool; piglets for healthy protein and fertilizer. Providing animals like this brings joy to the hearts of families who can then feed their children and increase their incomes. Cycles of poverty, disease, and injustice lead to environments where a better tomorrow hardly seems possible. Our children will discover what a privilege it is, to reach out to the needs of others in the name of Jesus. Check out more information at www.worldvision.ca/gifts.

The grades 4-8 will support KIVA which is a new venture for our school. Kiva is a micro-financing organization which helps people break the cycle of poverty. Kiva envisions a world where all people, even in the remote areas of the world, hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others. Access to safe, affordable capital for people in need helps people create better lives for themselves and their families. Kiva works with microfinance institutions on five continents to provide loans to people without access to traditional banking systems. One hundred percent of our loan is sent to these microfinance institutions. What an exciting way to see generations of people positively impacted! Check out more details at www.kiva.org

Thank you for partnering with the LCES community both locally and world-wide as we seek to be Christ's hands and feet to those around us.
